East Bay AWIS (ebAWIS) is a local chapter of the national AWIS advocacy organization championing the interests of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) across all disciplines and employment sectors. AWIS strives to ensure that women in STEM can achieve their full potential by breaking down barriers and creating opportunities.

Goals of the East Bay chapter include mentoring all levels of students, promoting education and science literacy in the community, providing a forum for networking, developing member career and personal skills, enhancing personal empowerment, and building a network with other Diversity & Inclusion organizations.
The first Northern California Chapter (NCC) of AWIS was founded in Palo Alto, but chapters were formed in East Bay, San Francisco, and Sacramento Valley to accommodate the needs of members in regional growing technology centers.
