Past Scholarship Recipients
Created in 1996, the Kathleen L. Miller, Ph. D. Memorial Scholarship is for re-entry women in their second year of science training at local community colleges. These funds are administered through Berkeley Biotechnology Education Inc. (BBEI). Bayer Corporation provides matching funds for program support at BBEI, so our scholarship funds aid in their efforts also. The Kathleen L. Miller, Ph.D. Memorial Scholarship was established in1995 to assist re-entry women in their second year of study in the biosciences. Initially supported by donations from East Bay AWIS members, the scholarship was generously endowed in 1996 by Mrs. Arlene Miller, Kathleen's mother, in loving memory of her daughter.

Past Scholarship Recipients
The Lorraine McCormick Memorial scholarships were established in 2004 by Sheila McCormick, Ph.D., an AWIS member and recipient of the 2002 Judith Pool Award. The award is in honor of Dr. McCormick's mother, Lorraine, who never had the chance to go to college although she received a scholarship in 1931 after graduating from high school. Despite the financial assistance of the scholarship, the money was not enough to fund college. This scholarship aims to financially assist women in their educational pursuits.
