Call for Nominations for NCC Banquet
Respond by Feb 25th, 2016
Do you know a woman who has helped you or others in personal career development? Nominate her for an award!
Each year NCC-AWIS presents awards to women who have combined their professional activities with support of other women in science. In honoring individual women, AWIS recognizes the importance of mentoring and of teaching and sharing with others more than just the content and techniques or our science.
Awards are given at the Annual Banquet in late April/early May held in South San Francisco. The recipient should be able to attend the banquet and will be asked to speak for about 10 minutes on the general topic of mentoring and supporting other women in career development. These personal observations and motivations are always the highlight of the evening.
Currently we are soliciting nominations for the following awards:
Ellen Weaver Award: To recognize a woman, who is early in her career, and working to advance research or technology in academia or industry.
Sherrie Wilkins Award: To recognize a woman using her science away from the bench
Nominating someone is easy. Please write a brief letter explaining how this person has helped you and/or other women develop professionally and a brief resume or CV giving the nominee’s educational background and professional history. Submit nominations by February 25th, 2016 to Mary Alice Yund at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you know a deserving recipient, don’t delay!
